„RELAY – it is in your hands“

We are living in a society, which is changing rapidly and demands that we live at an ever-increasing pace. We cannot stop this and if we ourselves “stop”, we lose the possibility of having some influence on what is happening around us. Nevertheless, our life does not have to be a mad dash, during which we worry too much about the past and the future, but never really live, in the present moment.

We can perceive life as a short leg of a relay race. We have no control either over the beginning or the end of this race but we may take part in it. Each of us has our share of talents and weaknesses. We have also received the Christian message and it is partly up to us, as to how and to whom it will be passed on. To read the signs of the present time, we need to reflect critically upon the developments in our society and in the Church over the past twenty years, and to look at the present moment from the perspective of eternity. In order to discern our unique path, we need to realize, that we are inextricably linked to the community. The words “it is in your hands” invite us to be involved: no one else can act in our place. At the same time the words invite us to obedience: “It is in your hands, Lord, please direct to our efforts”.
